The FULL Story. Hi Alan Hope you well. Thanks for all the info I get from Honey Stable! Is your little man now back to good health? I have to share the following story with you – but please sit down and don’t hold anything in your hand because you will drop it… I have a Warmblood Mare (Beauty) that had a little colt foal two weeks ago. (We named him ZIMBO). He is the most precious little bundle of joy, so cute and alert and just happy to be born… Great excitement all round, the mom and baby are both doing extremely well. She is a great mother, very relaxed and totally at ease and happy with life. The nett result, we have a happy little foal, relaxed and full of energy. Mom does not mind interaction with her new born, but of course she wants to have him in her eye sight at all times…. Well, yesterday I received a phone call from the SPCA advising me that they had received a complaint about the mare and foal I have at Zimbali. COMPLAINT 1 “A mare and foal was found together in one stable. COMPLAINT 2 The foal’s ribs were visible”. Now, I ask you Alan. Is it normal for mares to be kept together with their foals in one stable at the age of two weeks????? The routine at the stables are that the mare and foal goes out into the paddock during the day. The foal loves his time out but is never far from his mother’s side. He drinks on her about 40 to 50 times during per day. He drinks on her during the night too…and is it normal for a foal so have ribs visible at the age of two weeks??? I want to try and understand what person in their right mind would expect to have a mare separated from her foal – specifically at the age of two weeks!!!!!! I would really love have your input. I believe that this is a malicious attempt to attack me again and to bring the horse riding facility in Zimbali under attack! Please let me have your thoughts. Luv Rix ************************ ************************ Good morning Alan Well, the SPCA came to see me at the stables and they could find absolutely NOTHING wrong. The foal looks absolutely great and the mother is also in great shape, considering she is feeding him!!! The end result is that the SPCA is angry for people in Zimbali wasting their time financial recourses being called out for nothing other than a vendetta which has nothing to do with the SPCA. It became evident that there the same group of people that always tried to get rid of the horses from Zimbali decided to make my life as impossible as they could and hence the ridiculous complaints to the SPCA! Firstly, it is absolutely a shame for people in Zimbali to bring in the SPCA into something that does not concern them, but most importantly, the SPCA is so reliant upon donations and public funding for their existence, that it is a shame to use them in this way! The SPCA would not tell me the names of the people that complaint but I did find out who the particular person is. He is linked to the same group that have fought the existence of the Stables in the past. I am not sure how to take it from here but I know that I am not leaving it here… Anyway, the good news is that all my horses are in tip top shape, the foal and mare are doing great and everything is in order at my yard. Thank you for your input! I look forward to hearing what comes out of your task you gave the two 16 year olds! Cheers Rix
