The Bakers Biscuits South African Showjumping Championships
Bakers Biscuits, a brand of Snackworx, is sponsoring this year’s National Showjumping Championship which will be held on the 10th of August 2008 at the Cyril Geoghegan Stadium in Durban. This event is one of the most prestigious events on the national showjumping calendar as the winner will hold the title of South African Champion, a title all showjumper's aspire to. Shaun Neill was the 2007 South African Champion on his spectacular horse, Delmon’s Gold Rush. He will be defending his title and stands a good chance of winning the R25000 first prize.
This year’s event has attracted over a record 900 entries and promises to be an extravaganza of horse and rider combinations tackling the daunting jumps which stand at 1.50m. The course builder for the event is Andreas Hollman from Germany, who will definitely put the riders through their paces over this bold and daunting track.
Spectators for this show will be treated to the top riding talent South Africa has to offer and will be able to watch legends like Dominey Alexander, Barry Taylor, Lorette Knowles-Taylor and many more.
“For us it is a natural fit to align our Bakers' brands to this event as it is being held in Durban, the home of Bakers Biscuits. I would even venture to say that if the Baker’s man can then we all can,” comments Heather Partner, Category Director of Snackworx which incorporates Baker’s Biscuits, Willards and Pyotts, “As you know Bakers is highly involved in other outdoor sports such as the Bakers Mini Cricket and we thought that the South African Showjumping Championships was a perfect fit for us. Equestrian sport is the only Olympic discipline where men and women compete on an equal footing,” concludes Heather.
“We would like to extend an invitation to all families in and around the Durban area to come and join us over this weekend and partake in the festivities. It really is going to be fabulous fun. Bakers Biscuits and Willards will be handing out spot prizes to spectators, so best you be there to ensure that you receive one of these fantastic prizes” says Sue Pieters from C & S Shows, the organisers of this event.
