"That Darn WORM"

Every 3 months one is told to deworm your horses/ponies and we tend to say why??

Well ,  thanks to an invite ,  I got a big wake up call. Them "WORMS" can KILL.

The point is ,  if you have animals and now I am also adding in all my 4 legged friends deworming is a must. One only thinks of horses and dogs when the word "DEWORM" is talked about, but even people should "DEWORM" themselves.

Now down to all my friends. When one deworm's horses/ponies every 3 months there is a table that one can work from to keep cost down.

Date Horse 1 Horse 2  Horse 3
March (mid/late) Pegasol Bimectin
May (late)/ June (early) Panacur (daily for 5 days) Panacur (daily for 5 days) Panacur (daily for 5 days)
September (late)   Pegasol Bimectin
December (mid) Pegamax   Pegamax

You will see that each horse has only been given 3 out of    4, this is to prevent the worms  from becoming  immune to the dewormer. Over 2 years each horse will have been give all 4. If you use all 4 then you will protect your horse from all the worms ,  which will be a good thing.

The first table is for 2 to 5 horses/ponies. When the yard has more than 5 one must work out a table like this:-

Date Stable 1- 5 Stable 6-10
March (mid/late) Bimectin
April (mid/late)   Pegasol
May (late)/ June (early) Panacur (daily for 5 days)
June (late)/ July (early)   Panacur (daily for 5 days)
September (late) Pegasol
October (late)   Bimectin
December (mid) Pegamax
January (mid)   Pegamax

In this table you will see how all 4 are used.
