South African Sport Horse Community...

Racing South Africa is pleased to introduce one of the most exciting ventures undertaken by the horseracing industry in a very long time. The Racing South Africa Thoroughbred Expo 2008 provides a unique marketing platform that aims to expose the many facets of our industry to the general public.

For the Sport Horse community, it is an opportunity to engage with role players from the horseracing industry and to explore ways of strengthening ties between the various codes.

A strong focus of the Expo is education and career opportunities. In this regard we have created an “interactive” component on Thursday 31 July and Friday morning, 1 August. Specifically aimed at the Grade 7-10 school children, it will include live exhibits from the SA Jockey Academy, a Veterinary practice, Farriers, Feed Merchants and the Racing Media. It will finish with a mock horse race on the track itself and hopefully create the spark that has attracted so many of us to the Sport.

A Seminar is scheduled for Friday afternoon and an announcement regarding the topics on offer will be made shortly.

Saturday is the final day of the Expo which of course is Canon Gold Cup Day, the country’s premier marathon event! The Exhibition will continue until after racing. Additionally, Racing South Africa offers prospective visitors’ access to its Champagne Lounge and Picnic Areas by separate arrangement.
