As a child I always wanted a horse, It didn't eventuate till after I was married and I was working, and had my son. When I bought my first horse, a Palamino Part Arabian "Shandi" , He is still with me and is a grand 32 yrs young,
I then went on to establish Delrain Farm Arabians in 1975, My first Arabian Stallion was a very special horse, he was a stunning Grey, mostly Crabbet bred By the exquite stallion Moon Fashion, out of the brilliant mare Clemina.. with wonderful sire lines to the fabulous Imported Crabbet stallion Silver Moonlight, and on his Dams side his pedigree goes back to Baz, another great imported sire.
I then purchased my first mare, she was a lovely chestnut Carmilla Leda, with mainly Crabbet breeding, and some lovely horses in her pedigree, I have been breeding arabians since then, and now have my 4th purebred Arabian Stallion Dunbar Silver falcon, a dream to ride, and own, he is by the Lovely, but sadly deceased Silver Wind Van Nina who goes back to Baz, his Dam Redlens Fadiera goes back to Ansata El Sherif, who’s son was imported into Australia. My Arabians have been lightly shown in hand, for very good results, but their strengths are in ridden events and Endurance. In 1988 I fell in love with my first Miniature horse, Pizzaz was one of a kind, the sweetest nature, and a lovely stallion, I imported a Miniature mare and 2 stallions from USA, and that started 21yrs of breeding, showing and driving in Harness with my minis. I have also driven my 3 Miniature stallion abreast in Harness at the 1999 Equitana Mane Event, the largest Equine Expo in the Southern Hemisphere, My miniatures have excelled in both the show ring and in Harness.

Zerro was bred in Holland out of top European Warmblood bloodlines such as Furioso II, Purioso, Ferro and Samber. Formerly known as “Twilight Stud”. We changed the name of our stud to pay tribute to a very special mare Scarlet Stage. She was my “first” horse and there was no horse so noble and kind. She always gave answers to my often incorrect questions and patiently taught me how to ride. At Scarlet Hill we aim to follow the KWPN (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands) breed requirements in our horses: “... horses with international appeal. It is willing, fearless, physically and mentally strong, and bred to perform at the highest level. It is also reliable, easy to handle, and pleasing to the eye. Likewise, it aims to breed healthy horses that happily and easily do what is expected of them”. We strive to breed superior quality Warmbloods for all disciplines from proven imported and local bloodlines. Uncomplicated temperaments are essential in our horses. Each year we will choose a stallion to import semen from and make them available to approved breeders (privately and studs). I have the imported stallion, Etherow Impasse. I have been breeding now for seven years and now the progeny are starting to win in all the disciplines. We are very excited for 2008 as we have a great competition team coming out. The stallion produces horses for all the disciplines and they are for all sorts of riders as the temperaments are great. CALLAHO Warmblood

The CALLAHO stud farm is situated
in the Kalahari, near Kimberley. The sweet veldt, vast areas
and calcium-rich soils render this region ideal horse breeding
country. The emphasis of the breeding objective is on
performance.
The stud utilizes the stallions FOR JOY, GRANULIT and WENCKSTERN, who all passed their performance tests in Germany at the very top of their class. They have gone on to excel in the showjumping and dressage sport at international level in Europe and South Africa. As proven progenitors of quality, temperament, movement and jump, their offspring are excelling at all levels and are globally acclaimed. Young stallions (particularly bred for either jumping or dressage) have been imported recently to support these established stud stallions. Frozen semen from pre-eminent German, Dutch and French sires vitalizes the gene pool. Our stallions are restricted to approximately 42 imported CALLAHO mares, all deriving directly from the finest bloodlines in Europe. Via their dam lines, most are immediately related to (or already have produced offspring which are) national, European and World Champions. All offspring are handled daily and raised on the farm to the age of 3 years, when they are backed and carefully produced for the Annual Auction in April. |
